local case study
SwedenBayWa r.e. Nordic is investigating the possibility of building a solar power plant on land in the eastern part of Linköping Municipality. The nearest municipality is Ringstorp. We have carried out consultations in accordance with Chapter 6 of the Environmental Code with the County Council, the municipality, the affected parties and the public in the vicinity of the proposed plant.
We prepared an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which was approved by the County Council in September 2024, meaning that the solar farm now has permission to be built. It is estimated that the solar park will be able to produce approximately 38 GWh of renewable electricity per year, which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 7,600 households. It will cover an area of approximately 41 hectares.
According to the environmental analysis, the solar park will have a significant positive impact on the climate by producing renewable electricity. But it will also contribute with natural values. For example, the area contains oak woodland that is home to the IUCN red-listed woodland brown butterfly. The conservation plan developed for the solar farm includes a number of measures to improve the situation for the red-legged butterfly.
The area is remote and the solar farm will have an insignificant impact on outdoor recreation and the landscape.
