local case study
FinlandKarhakkamaa wind farm is in the development phase and Master Plan draft and EIA-report have been on public display during 2024. Next step in the process is the Master Plan proposal phase and having the new Master Plan in place. The wind farm comprises 48 wind turbines with a capacity of 252-480 MW.
To enable the transmission of electricity from the wind farm to the national grid, BayWa r.e. is also planning a 400-kV transmission line connecting the wind farm to the Petäjäskoski substation. The planned power line corridor will span approximately 52 kilometers. Fingrid is also planning a new substation to Louepalo that could shorten the power line length with 13,5km.
If approved, the wind farm could potentially be commissioned by 2030. The capacity of the planned wind turbines is about 6-10 MW, resulting in a total capacity of about 252-480 MW and an estimated net production of 725-1,380 GWh per year.
