Hjälmsätter Örtomta

BayWa r.e. Nordic received a positive decision for a Section 12.6 notification in October 2024 and a building permit in May 2025 for a new 15 MW battery storage facility in Linköping Municipality. The project is planned adjacent to the proposed solar park at Hjälmsäter Örtomta.

The facility will occupy approximately 0.3 hectares and was selected due to its proximity to the grid and its low environmental and cultural footprint. It will support the electricity system by temporarily storing power and balancing grid frequency.

Detailed design and grid connection work are ongoing. The facility is expected to begin operation in 2029.
