In March 2025, BayWa r.e. Nordic was granted a building permit for a new battery storage facility in Norsjö Municipality, with a capacity of 80 MW. The facility will occupy approximately 1 hectare and is located on land suitable for development without conflicts with natural or cultural interests.

The battery storage will enhance energy security by temporarily storing electricity and balancing fluctuations in the power grid.

This is the first battery storage facility in Norsjö Municipality to receive a building permit and will improve access to renewable energy in the region.

Detailed planning and grid connection activities are ongoing. The facility is expected to be commissioned in 2034.
