New Wind Farm in Vaala, Finland, to Be Commissioned in 2027

to overview

BayWa r.e. Nordic and the grid operator Loiste Liitymisjohdot Oy have now signed a grid connection agreement for the Naulakangas wind farm, which will be built in the municipality of Vaala. The agreement enables the connection of six wind turbines to Loiste’s 110 kV electricity network by the summer of 2027. At that point, the wind farm can also begin production and enter commercial operation.

“The grid connection agreement is an important milestone in the progress of the project. Our collaboration with Loiste has worked very well, and we are pleased with the timeline for the connection, which will allow us to commission the wind farm as planned,” says Thomas Hörberg, Head of EPC at BayWa r.e. Nordic.

The Vaala wind farm is part of BayWa r.e. Nordic’s initiative to develop strategic and successful renewable energy projects in Finland. With a capacity of 44 MW, the wind farm will make a significant contribution of renewable energy to the region and strengthen the conditions for investment in the green transition.

"It’s great to be part of implementing a renewable energy investment together with BayWa r.e. Nordic. The goal of Loiste Liittymisjohdot is to support project developers in the construction and operation of grid connection lines by leveraging Loiste’s strong expertise in electricity networks," says Jani-Pekka Pantti, Chief Operating Officer at Loiste Liittymisjohdot Oy.
