BayWa r.e. strengthens its leadership position in Italy with the acquisition of Kenergia Sviluppo
BayWa r.e. has acquired Rome based O&M service provider Kenergia Aviluppo S.r.l, expanding the scale of its operations to include renewable energy plants with an output of 270 MW.
The move sees BayWa r.e. operating solar and wind power plants across Italy, taking its total output over 500 MW, and positions it as market leader in the Italian renewable energy O&M sector. Managing over 2,000 MW of plant output worldwide, it places BayWa r.e. at the forefront of the sector.
Matthias Taft, Board Member of BayWa AG, responsible for the energy business said: “We’ve been active in the O&M sector for over 20 years, with our customised management concepts. By taking over Kenergia, we are now consolidating our leading position in the Italian market. At the same time, we are now exceeding the magical 2 GW limit of managed plant output for the first time. We can therefore look optimistically into the future.”
With the acquisition, 30 new colleagues will reinforce the Italian team led by Lorenzo Palombi and Alessandra Toschi. In addition to the O&M business, BayWa r.e. is also active in project business and distribution of photovoltaic systems in Italy.
